My Idol

Everyone has a person they idealize, whether it’s their parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, celebrity, friend, grandmother or grandfather, whoever it is they still have a person to depend on. I also have a role model and that model supports me in every way. She is my mother (plus my aunt). My mom gave birth to me and helped me solve problems in life. They are helping me mature and I, in return, help them and be on their side the way they are always on my side.
There are many ways that I idealize them. First, when I have a problem at school with bullies, I ask my mom for help. She makes me understand and face the problems by telling me that she faced many bullies and that if you stand up for yourself, nobody will bother to make fun of you. If I don’t understand some type of material my mom and my aunt helps me understand that specific material. They also help me go through troubles like for example, if I feel bad for someone, I tell them and they tell me to talk to my teacher and counselor about my feelings. I see them as pert, prim and strong people. They also faced many privations but faced them head on.
They also taught me the difference between what’s wrong and what’s right. They told me how to be an upright individual. My mom and my aunt are people who are advanced in their education, thinking and are very nice and humble. They are daring and people who you would want to be with. These people are also passionate and responsible and they are always going to be in my heart and my brain as I grow up. They are also people who you’d want to seek as you grow and I want be like them as I grow to be an adult. I SALUTE THEM AND LOVE THEM JJ !!!!

The Treasure Map

                                     The Treasure Map

The weather was perfect. I was outside sitting on the porch of my condo thinking about our friends in Story Island. Ever since my brother, Ayaan and I discovered the magic portal to a wonderful island, the island was the only place I could think about. It is filled with characters from fictional stories as well as unknown characters. The island is a very beautiful place to go to.

I went inside the house and walked in the closet. I shuffled through the clothing and found the portal. As I fell deep in, I felt myself getting tinier and tinier until I was pixie tiny. I walked through the forest of talking trees until I reached Mrs. Mole’s house. She had called me to her house. I had a fine cup of English tea with Scottish Cake and chatted with Mrs. Mole about my world. She chuckled when I told her about the times I threw my milk bottle on the floor and under the bed and how my little brother makes this funny fish faces. I left her house with a good bye and went to say hi to the gnomes Tinny and Kadoka.
They were running around trying to catch each other. “Hi!!” they exclaimed in a remarkably high-pitched voice. I joined in their game of tag, which was fun. Then I headed for the beach. A gust of wind blew by and a papyrus went on my face. I walked slowly to a palm tree and drank coconut milk. What I was looking at was a treasure map. I wanted to go find the treasure which might take a day or two. I started building a ship and decided to call Mawaii the sailing fairy and Falk the dwarf. They helped build a sturdy ship and pack the needed supplies and food/drinks. I had a great crew in the ship.

                                        $$$

The blazing sun hit my eyes and I started blinking. I rose up and stretched. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. Then I sleepily walked to the bathroom and washed up and brushed my teeth. I went to the main place of the ship when there was a deafening THUMP! I looked down and saw shore. We hit land! “WE HIT LAND! WE HIT LAND!”I celebrated by twirling till I got dizzy. “What’s all the commotion about?” asked two curious voices. “WE HIT LAND!” I said loudly. They looked down and started twirling till they got dizzy. We ate yummy Tilapia and boarded the ship. We followed the map route and something hit my foot. I rubbed my foot when Mawaii found out that what I hit was no ordinary rock, but a secret CHAMBER!

Falk lit an oil lamp and we entered in. The chamber looked as if I was in gothic scenery in France. Shadows literally danced around the chamber walls and skeletons were piled along the corridors. OK, this is creepy and giving me goose bumps. I thought. The only noise was the shifting of our feet and the loud whimpers of Falk. I looked behind and saw both Mawaii and Falk shivering and clinging to each other. “Guys, there is nothing to be scared about.” I tried convincing them. Was there anything to worry about??

                                $$$

We kept walking when I found an X on the floor. The others gathered around me and together we dug. Finally we hit something. Behold, the glorious treasure. We retraced our steps and found our ship. Then we climbed aboard and ate. We heard a roll of thunder and it started to rain. The waves started to run wild and zany. Soon the sun retrieved its self and the waves calmed down. After a day we hit land and we were back to Story Island. We carried the chest and distributed the treasure equally and talked about our adventure.

I left the island and went home. No time had passed by and life was different. I told Ayaan about this adventure and he was amazed. This great time is an amazing memory I’ll never forget. This all had started with a memory.

My own antique store

                             My own antique store

I was jumping with joy. This was great. This was wonderful. This was delightful. I was extra pleased. I own a shop in London, England. It’s a dream come true. It’s no ordinary shop. It’s in antique store. Can’t you believe it? I own a shop! A SHOP! Okay, okay I’m going zany, but I can’t believe it. The shop is made of bricks and it looks huge. It’s squared and has plants around it. The shop is in a corner of the town square and lies on top of a green hill. Next to the shop are large fields of lavender and gladiolus.

I walk in the two-story building and started arranging the furniture. Each thing was hand-crafted and made by me and one of my great friends, Rachel (Athena) Gina, who is a woodcrafter. She was going to help me with this business. I put the sign that read “Antiqued” up. Finally, the work was over. Now it is time for the GRAND OPENING! I am to eager have customers come in and out while purchasing something. “All set!” Athena states. I get outside the shop and tie a red ribbon. Then I call people to come to my shop. They crowded around my shop and me standing in the front. First I explained how I got the shop and my dream, and then I talked about how I finally decide to make it an antique shop. “ … I here by declare the shop OPEN!”
I cut the ribbon and everyone went inside. It was such a hullabaloo. They all purchased something or other. I never knew that owning a shop would be so much fun. Soon, I’ll be a billionaire if my shop will turn out to be a success.
After the day ended, Rachel and I had a cup of lemonade at the back of the shop and enjoyed the view. This was truly an amazing day for me and my friend. Cheerio for now...

The Fashion Designer

                      The Fashion Designer
I was working hard today. My office, in Times Square; New York City, was a little bit untidy. I work in a five story building made of bricks and have a great view of where the New Years’ Ball is kept. The building has ivy on the side with lots of leaves. The bottom floor is all decorated with a crystal chandelier, a black runway, pink spotlights on the side, red rose petals on the carpeted floor and plague shaped arch where models are going to go through. Yes, today is the biggest day of my career. Today is my fashion show.
My assistant, Maria De Ansonia, and I worked hard for this fashion show. We made unique styles like making clothes out of comic shreds, paper bags, and metal. Obviously, they will be around stores internationally. This show is going to be extravagant. It’s going to be the best show on the planet. I was busy adding touches to the clothes like adding sparkles and making the dresses utterly glamorous. I was also busy making the models practice while Maria choose make-up shades when all of a sudden there was a RING! RING! RING! The phone rang. It was a call from one of my models, Rosa Anderson. She was sick and couldn’t make it to the fashion show. I paced back and forth. She was one of my best models and friends.
This news was nerve-wrecking to me. What should we do? Finally the light bulb went off in my head. I could be the model. The phone rang again. This time it was from the world’s best designer, Jacqueline Nina. “I will be able to come to the fashion show.” She said. I told Maria the good news and the bad news. We both squealed and danced. This was luck and I hope we stayed lucky.
                                         * * *
That night we were so excited. We got ready. In 12 min. it was show time. We rehearsed and finally, at 8:00 the show begun. First, I said the introduction while Maria held the door for everyone. As everyone got settled, I started to give an intro on each thing. I fully explained my journey, the things I had to let go to become a fashion designer, and the personality in each dress. Then the show began. The list of songs played. As the show got close to the end I got a call. A fashion designer from England wanted me to put up a fashion show in a building in Westminster Abbey. How long will our lucky and jubilant celebration last?

When i found a secret room in my home

When i found a secret room in my home

This is a day I will never forget! I wake up one morning; looking at the clock which read 12 a.m., everyone was asleep in the summer heat except me! I decide to go back to sleep but felt restless and startled. I rise up again and heard voices from behind the walls! They are high-pitched and squeaky. What could possibly be behind the walls? I say to myself.
I go down the ladder to take a look. The roaring of the three fans made it easy to climb down the ladder with a creak. “Are you okay, Anam?” asks a small but low voice. I turn around and see my brother Ayaan. “Yeah, but have you heard noises behind the walls?” I ask him suspiciously. “Sure I did!!!” Ayaan remarks to me. So we go and tip-toe to the living room but we realize that the voices get fainter the farther we get.  “I think we should turn back.” I say to Ayaan softly. We scuffle lightly back in the bedroom.
“Let’s try the closet” Ayaan suggests. Ha! Exactly what I was thinking. We head directly to the closet. The high-pitched voices became clear and loud. We shuffle through all the clothes and Ayaan says in a whisper “I found an entrance,” I go inside first with Ayaan behind me. Soon, we find ourselves miniature in a beautiful land full of mushrooms and flowers of all kind. Suddenly, there’s a ruffle and a muffle in the grass and out jumps two dwarfs. “Hello, strange creatures.” Says one dwarf. “Strange indeed, you’re right Tinny” says the other dwarf. “Thank you Kadoka” says Tinny. Well they hide in our closet so they should know us. “We’re from the planet Earth.” Ayaan says. “Our names are Anam and Ayaan” I babble.
                                        ***
We take a tour of Story Island and hear tales from the fairies. We have tea and cake with Mr. and Mrs. Groundhog. We swim with Rainbow Fish and make dams with the Beaver family. We soar through the air with Vulture and chat with the Three Bears. We climb Rapunzel’s tower and paint and fly with Peter Pan. Soon it was time to go so we say bye and promise to meet them again. And a promise is a promise to keep till you die unless you drink the everlasting water with the Tucks.

The Fabulous Reporter

                           The Fabulous Reporter

My palms were shaking. Sweat rolled down from my forehead. I had butterflies in my stomach. My legs felt like green Jell-O. There I was, standing in the Your News office waiting for Mr. Gilli to call me. I prepared for this day since months and finally, I’m here, sitting and watching the show they put on. What if I don’t make it through the interview? What if he already got-
“You’re Anam Aziz, right? Mr. Gilli is waiting for you.” Remarked a man, breaking my thoughts. I got up and entered the office.  “Takea seat, Takea seat, Ah!” I pulled the orange chair out and sat down. Mr. Gilli had a gleaming bald head, was short, and was wearing a loud neon red shirt that was to short for him with a matching jacket and checkered pants. He had a toothpick in his mouth that made him have a weird accent. “Ya’ wan’ a cup of coffee,” Before I could say yes, he asked for two cups of coffee, pecan and caramel flavored.
                                        ***
After the interview, I could feel a wide smile going ear-to-ear on my face. I got the position to be a reporter! The boss said that he never saw such high proficiency from anybody he had interviewed with. I couldn’t wait to get started. That night I was so anxious that I could not sleep. The next morning, I woke up at 3:00 a.m. I got dressed in my best professional dress, which was the color of khaki, and drove my advanced eggplant Mustang to the main office. I was busy remembering my script when CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! It was Boss. “Oka’ people, we’ll be on in fifte’n minutes!” he exclaimed.
I finally memorized the script and got my microphone ready when we were finally ON!! As time passed, I got better and better. I was confident and happy. After the show Mr. Gilli said to me “Ya’ were great. Ya’ ma’e us all hap’y and now we’ll discuss yar’e salary.” Now I felt a great feeling, which is called jubilance and confidence. It’s all worth the work and dreams.
