My first day at LMS (Linwood Middle School)
My first day of 6th grade is going to be a wonderful journey. In fact, I am very zealous. On the first day of school, I am going to wear my yellow and blue dress with my yellow tights and my short yellow jacket. I am going to wear sneakers and blue socks. My hair style is going to be simply one ponytail and side-parted hair. I’m going to have a brown book bag that is full of new school supplies. Then I’m going to ride the school bus at
On the bus, I’ll sit in a random seat and make friends with the person who is going to sit next to me.
ME: “Hi, my name is Anam. My elementary school’s name is Parsons.”
FRIEND: “Nice to meet you. My name is (person’s name). My school was (elementary school name). You look pretty”
When the bus stops, I’ll get off and enter the school saying:
“I’m officially a LMS and a 6th grade student” Then I’ll head to wherever I need to head. I’ll first go to my homeroom and who do I see? My friend from the bus and my best friend, Sarahlee! I smile and wave to her and find out that the seat right next to her is empty.
ME: “Hi Sarahlee, it’s a long time since I last saw you. I missed you a lot. I kept on talking about you to my family.”
SARAHLEE: “I missed you a lot too. I also kept on talking about you to my family. I can’t believe we’re in the same homeroom. I hope we are in the same lunch table, how ‘bout you?”
ME: “I do hope so. Now we have to be quiet. The teacher is coming, ‘Tee Hee’!”
Now the teacher comes in. She writes her name on the board. It says: Welcome. My name is Mrs. Spandelour. You may call me Mrs. S.
Mrs. S: “Hello students. I’m going to be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the school year. It is time for my welcome song. Sing along with me if you want to.
‘Oh it is September and it’s the start of a new school year. You got a journey ahead. Chou! Chou! LMS is the perfect place to be, Chou! Chou! Now it’s time learn something new now and I wish you a happy year. Chou! Chou!’
Now how did you like the song? It’s time for me to pass your papers and then we’ll play the Intro game and next I’ll dismiss you for your classes.”

My house center is the Lion House. It was just like Hogwarts, with house centers; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. Anyways, I went to my locker and unlocked my locker. I got settled and got my science things. I rushed to the science hall and took a seat. I was the first one seated inside class. I was happy. We were learning about plants and were watching a video about xylems. We had no homework.
Next subject is going to be reading. I handed in my work that was given over the summer, although I read all the books, including Peter Pan.
TEACHER: “Exceptional work. I see that you have read the Advanced Literature book. I think I should promote you to the Advanced Literature class. What is your name?”
ME: “My name is Anam Aziz. I wanted to do this and my mother said I should, thank you sir.”
I was a glad monkey who got her banana (Oh, y’all know what I mean). I took a seat and my teacher explained what we will do in reading. At the end of class, I went to my locker and got my new brown and pink floral printed lunch box. There were only three people I could recognize in my lunch table, Nishreen, Sarahlee, and Priya. I sat next to them.
PRIYA: “Hi Anam, it’s along time since I saw you! Wait a minute; you’re as tall as me!”
ME: “Yeah, but I’m glad I saw you again. Anyways, how was you’re class. I have Art 6 next.”
NISHREEN: “Well, my class went well. I also have Art 6 next. I guess we can go together. I kept on remembering you guys in the summer.”
SARAHLEE: “I have Computers next. I bet it’s going to be fun. All my classes went well.”
PRIYA: “Linwood is awesome. Before I was all nervous and had butterflies in my stomach but now everything is all right,”
ME: “Computers is going to be fun. You know in 7th grade, you learn html and get to make a website and Priya, there is no need to be nervous.”
NISHREEN and SARAHLEE: “Wow, a website!”
SARAHLEE: It’s sad that you have to wait till next year.”

Next class was Art 6. I took all my things I needed and walked to the class room. It was cool. I then went to my homeroom and did R&R.
ME: “Can I go and visit the ASD* students? I want to see my brother, Adeem.”
MRS. S: “Sure, but come back in five minutes. Oh and the club paper will come out day after tomorrow so if you want to join the Lunch Crew, you may.”
ME: “O.K. Thanks for letting me go Mrs. S.”
I headed for the ASD* hallway and meet Adeem. He was happy to see me. I came back in to my homeroom just in time. My first day of middle school was an important milestone in my life and it was perfect.
* ASD is a program for autistic students, who learn new things everyday and experiment with different things like the iPad.
